TUFTED PATTERN.
This pattern is very useful and pretty for
shawls and scarfs, being alike on both sides. Use fingering wool and a bone
crochet needle, No. 7, and commence with chain suffecient for entire width of the
shawl.
1st row.- 1 double crochet in the first chain from the needle, 1
double crochet in the next, * wool over the needle and insert the hook in the
next chain ,and draw the wool through, wool over the needle again and back
through two stitches on the needle, this makes half a treble stitch, make two
more half treble stitches in the same place, wool over the needle and draw
through the three half trebles and through the other stitch that is on the
needle, 2 double crochet in two consecutive chain, and repeat from * to the end
of the row, turn.
2nd row.- 2 double crochet above the two double crochet of
previous row, * 3 half treble above the three half trebles, and 2 double crochet
above the two next double crochet, repeat from *. Every succeeding row is worked
the same as the second row. The shawl maybe fringed, or finished off with a
crochet edging.
