Shoulder Shawl with Sleeves |
|
This dainty wrap will be found most enjoyable for both indoor and outdoor wear. It is so comfortable without being bulky and burdensome. The open sleeves, while protecting the arms also allow the waist sleeve all necessary room and will not crush the daintiest material.
The back reaches from shoulder to waist.
To make, use 4 skeins of 3 ply yarn and a medium size bone crochet hook.
Make a chain 19 inches long, turn, make 1 d c into each stitch until you reach the center. Into this stitch make 3 d c, then continue 1 d c into each stitch to the end of chain, 1 ch st, turn.
2d Row-1 d c into each stitch.
3d Row-1 d c into each st, 3 d c into the center st, 1 ch st, turn. Alternate 2d and 3d rows for 14 inches or the length of the back, 3 ch sts, turn, 1 t c into the last st of each row to the top, 3 ch sts, turn. 1 t c into each t c, omit using the 3 ch sts as a foundation for the t c; this reduces the width gradually. When you have a generous length for the sleeve (20 inches is the average length) make 1 d c into each t c and connect the sleeve; continue without turning.
2d Row-* 7 d c, catch front half of 8th and 9th sts, make 1 d c; repeat * for 2 rows.
4th Row-* 4 d c, catch front half of 5th and 6th sts; repeat * for 2 rows.
1 d c into each st for 3 inches.
For the scallop, 1 d c, 2 ch sts, 2 t c into the next st, skip 2 sts, repeat. Start at the back; repeat for opposite sleeve. For the cords, ch 14 inches each. For tassels, wrap yarn over 3 fingers and tie.
