Yoke with Novelty Braid for Corset Covers, Chemise or Night Robes

MATERIAL: Columbia Mercerized Crochet (Art. 200), No. 50 White, 1 ball. Columbia Novelty Braid, No. 1400, size 0. Columbia Steel Crochet Hook No. 11.

INSTRUCTIONS: Fasten thread into first picot on leaf of Novelty Braid, 1 Sg. C. 1 Ch. into each of 6 P. * 7 Ch. skip first P. on next leaf, 4 Tr. C. in next 4 P., 7 Ch. 6 Sg. C. with 1 Ch. between on next leaf. Repeat from * until you have worked over 59 leaves, ending with 6 Sg. C. over last leaf. Break thread, do not turn work, but always start at same end.
Row 2-Fasten thread between 1st and 2nd Sg. C., 1 Ch. 1 Sg. C. between each space, making 5 Sg. C. * 7 Ch., 1 D. C. in first Tr. C. 2 D. C. in 2nd Tr. C. 5 Ch. 2 D. C. in third Tr. C. I D. C. in last Tr. C. 7 Ch. 5 Sg. C. with 1 Ch. between over next leaf. Repeat from * ending with 4 Sg. C., break thread.
Row 3-Fasten thread, between 1st and 2nd Sg. C. 1 Ch. I Sg. C. between next 3 spaces, * 7 Ch. 3 D. C. over 3 D. C., 2 Ch. 3 D. C. over 5 Ch., 2 Ch. 3 D. C. over 3 D. C., 7 Ch. 4 Sg. C. with 1 Ch. between over next leaf. Repeat from * to end, break thread.
Row 4-3 Sg. C. with 1 Ch. between, * 7 Ch., 3 D. C. over first 3 D. C., 2 Ch. 3 D. C. in first D. C. in centre, 5 Ch. 3 D. C. in last D. C. in centre, 2 Ch. 3 D. C. over 3 D. C., 7 Ch. 3 Sg. C. over next leaf. Repeat from * to end.
Row 5-* 2 Sg. C., 7 Ch. 3 D. C. over 3 D. C. 2 Ch. 3 D. C. over next 3 D. C. 2 Ch. 3 D. C. over 5 D. C., 2 Ch. finish other half of scallop in same way. Repeat from * to end.
Row 6-1 S. C. * 7 Ch. 3 D. C. 2 Ch., 3 D. 2 Ch. 3 D. C. in first D. C. in centre 5 Ch. 3 D. C in last D. C. in centre, 2 Ch. 3 D. C. 2 Ch. 3 D. 7 Ch. 1 Sg. C. Repeat from * to end of row.
Row 7-Fasten thread in first D. C. on scallop, 3 Ch. 2 D. C. on next 2 D. C. * 2 Ch. 3 D. C. 2 Ch. 3 D. C. 2 Ch. 3 D. C. over 5 Ch. in centre, 2 Ch. 3 D. C. 2 Ch. 3 D. C. 2 Ch. 3 D. C. skip leaf of Sg. C. 3 D. C. over first 3 D. C. on next scallop, and repeat from * to end of row.
Row 8-Fasten thread into first D. C. on scallop, 7 Ch. 2 D. C. in space between 3 D. C. 5 Ch. 2 D. C. into each space over scallop, skip space where scallops meet, 5 Ch. 2 D. C. in next space. Repeat to end.
Row 9-5 Sg. C. over each loop.
SLEEVES: Cut off 9 leaves of novelty braid, and join under leaf of 6th scallop, join other end under leaf of llth scallop, counting from begining, join second armhole in same way.
Starting from centre on bottom of armhole, work around and around in same way as yoke part was made, in this way working over the shoulders on both sides of braid.
Finish bottom of yoke with 6 D. C. with 1 Ch. between on picot of each leaf,, 5 Ch. between leaves, work all around front, bottom of armholes, and back. Sew into place with overcast stitch, rolling goods or hemming garment.
Draw ribbon through top and around armholes.
