Rick Rack Braid Yoke for Night Robes, Chemise or Corset Covers

MATERIAL: Columbia Mercerized Crochet (Art. 200), No. 50 White, 1 ball. Columbia Rick Rack Braid No. 21. Columbia Steel Crochet Hook No. 11. Columbia Nightgown.

INSTRUCTIONS: Into first point of rick rack braid, work 1 Sg. C.; 5 Ch., 1 Sg. C., into 2nd point; 5 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into 3rd point; 5 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into 4th point; 1 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into 5th point; you now have 4 loops of 5 Ch. each. 2 Ch. * thread over hook twice, put hook through next point, thread over draw through 2 and 2, thread over twice, hook into next point, and repeat until you have taken up 6 points, thread over hook and draw through all the 7 loops on hook, 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into next point, 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. under first loop on opposite side, 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into next point on this side, 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into next loop, 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into point. Repeat this over each of the 4 loops, ending with 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into point on this side, 6 Ch. 1 Sg. C., 5 Ch. 1 Sg. C. 5 times into next 5 points, 5 Ch. 1 Sg. C. 4 times, 2 Ch. and repeat frorn * leaving the 5 loops with 6 Ch. between for top of scallop. Repeat until 30 scallops are made, or size required, break thread and cut braid.
Starting for other side of insertion, work 5 loops of 5 Ch. each, * 1 Ch. 1 Sg. C. 1 Ch. 1 Sg. C. until 7 points are gathered up, 1 D. C into first Sg. C. joining these 7 points into a ring, 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into first loop on opposite side, 2 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into point on this side. Repeat over each of 5 loops, 6 Ch. 1 Sg. C. 4 times for top of scallop, 5 Ch. 1 Sg. C. 5 times and repeat from * to end of row, joining if liked to slip over the head, or may leave the front open.
EDGE OF INSERTION FOR Top: Into the last of 4 loops on scallop, fasten cotton, Ch. 5 thread over hook twice, draw through same loop, thread over and draw through 2, 2, thread over twice, hook into same loop, draw through 2, 2, thread over twice, hook into first of 4 loops on opposite scallop, repeat the half trebles 3 times, * thread over and draw through all the 6 loops on hook, 5 Ch. 1 D. C. into next loop, 5 Ch. 1 D. C. in Sg. C. between 2nd and 3rd loop, 5 Ch. 1 D. C. over 3rd loop, 5 Ch. thread over hook twice, 3 H. Tr. into 4th loop, 3 H. Tr. into first loop on next scallop, and repeat from * to end of row, or all around, and join.
Row 2-1 leaf of 3 H. Tr. in centre of 2 leaves, 2 Ch. 1 D. C. over first loop, 2 Ch. 1 D. C. into D. C., 1 Ch. 1 D. C. over each loop, and 2 Ch. 1 D. C. over each D. C. 1 leaf of 3 H. Tr. between the two leaves. Repeat to end of row.
Row 3-2 Sg. C. over first space, * 1 Sg. C. 4 Ch. 1 Sg. C. into next space, 2 Sg. C. into 3rd space, repeat from * to end of row, break thread.
Row 1-On bottom of yoke, 3 H. Tr. over 5th loop on scallop, 3 H. Tr. over first loop on next scallop *, draw through all stitches on hook, 5 Ch. 1 D. C. in 2nd loop, 5 Ch., 1 D. C. in Sg. C. 5 Ch. 1 D. C. in 3rd loop, 5 Ch. 1 D. C. in Sg. C. 5 Ch. 1 D. C. in 4th loop, 5 Ch. 3 H. Tr. in 5th loop, 3 H. Tr. in lst loop on next scallop. Repeat from * to end of row.
Row 2-1 leaf over two leaves, 2 Ch. 1 D. C. in first D. C., 2 Ch. 1 D. C. in loop, 2 Ch. 1 D. C. over next D. C., and repeat to end of row.
Cut neck on garment round, and sew with overcast stitch.
SLEEVES. Work in same way, making 11 scallops for each. Draw ribbon through on top and around sleeves.
