Daisy Chain Yoke
Ohio Newspaper
Akron, Ohio 1911

The following yoke pattern won a $2.00 prize in an Akron, Ohio newspaper in 1911.

This yoke, composed of flowers connected in imitation of a daisy chain, was designed for a college girl. The picot edge is of pink and the ribbon is pink. No. 40 white and No. 50 pink cotton were used. Finish the directions for each row, then repeat backward from the star.

Ch 62, 2 rows of 19 spaces, turn.

Row 4--8 sp, 3 bl, 8 sp.

Row 5--5 sp, 2 bl, 1 sp, * 3 bl.

Row 6--4 sp, 3 bl, 1 sp, * 3 bl.

Row 7--4 sp, 4 bl, 1 sp, * 1 bl.

Row 8--6 sp, 2 bl, 1 sp, * 1 bl.

Row 9--3 sp, 3 bl, 2 sp, * 3 bl.

Row 10--2 sp, 7 bl, 1 sp, 7 bl, then 2 more blocks, as this is the middle row of corner flower and will be connected with first flower on shoulder. Flowers not on corners have 2 sp in place of 2 bl just made. Repeat backward, beginning with Row 9.

This completes one flower. Now make 3 rows like last in flower. Make flowers connected by 3 blocks until there are 5, which forms front of yoke. Make 5 for back and 3 or 4 for shoulder.

Beading: Group of 3 tr (thread over twice) on space, (ch 2, tr on next tr) 3 times, ch 2, repeat around.

Edge: In top of first tr of each second block or space put 3 dc separated by 1 ch, and a picot of 4 ch in top of each middle dc.
